Who We Are

Our Peer Writing Tutors & Faculty Writing Specialists can assist you at any stage of the writing process and help you with numerous academic writing tasks, such as short assignments, lengthy essays, research papers, reviews of literature, and even graduate theses. 

Peer Writing Tutors are graduate & undergraduate Springfield College students who can help you with all aspects of the writing & reading process. Peer Writing Tutors have been approved by faculty and undergo extensive training to help students become confident and independent writers!

Faculty Writing Specialists hold terminal degrees in writing or closely related fields and have extensive experience teaching and supporting writing at the college and graduate levels.

Randi Berry

Randi Berry is a second-year Rehabilitation Counseling graduate student, graduating this May. Alongside being a writing tutor, they are also an Accessibility Assistant in the Disability and Accessibility Services Office on campus. In moments of lull, Randi enjoys crocheting, painting, photography, and long naps with their mountain of Squishmallows. They also have a trusty sidekick, Nijel the Destroyer (pictured), who takes the role of Emotional Support Bearded Dragon seriously. Randi is presently trying to get back into the groove of writing more short stories and reading (and rereading) more books such as All for the Game.

Andrew Byler

Andrew Byler graduated from Hampshire College and received his MA in American History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Andrew ran the Writing Help at Night program at Hampshire College from 2013 to 2021 and is dedicated to helping students build their confidence as writers. In addition to his academic work, he grows tomatoes and ginger at a local 30-acre organic vegetable farm.

Carley Crain

Carley Crain is a senior writing tutor at Springfield double majoring in sports journalism and sociology. In her free time, she likes to ski, hike the White Mountains, read, bake, run, hang out with loved ones and listen to music. Carley has been a tutor at the ASC since her sophomore year and really enjoys making connections with students.

Megan Piercy

Megan Piercy

Megan Piercy (she/her) is a first-year graduate student in the Counseling Psychology PsyD program. She received her BA in Psychology from Elizabethtown College and MA in Counseling Psychology from Towson University. Megan is passionate about supporting students through the writing process and helping them grow in their writing abilities. In her free time, Megan enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, spending time with her pets, and caring for her
plants.

Mike Spry

Mike Spry

Mike Spry is an adjunct professor at Springfield College, teaching Composition I and II. He has written for the Toronto Star, FLOOD, Indiewire, The National Post, Maisonneuve, TSN, and MTV, among many others, and is the author of three books: JACK, Distillery Songs, and Bourbon & Eventide.

Anne C. Wheeler, PhD

Anne Wheeler is the Writing Program Director, an Assistant Professor of Composition & Rhetoric based in the Department of Literature, Writing, and Journalism at Springfield College, and the person who is managing The Writing Hub. She has a strong enthusiasm for supporting writers inside and outside of the classroom. Her favorite writing skill to teach is paragraph design. Outside of work, she is perpetually overwhelmed by her two kids (ages 3 and 7), three cats, and one dog.
