What Remains Collaborative Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Jan 30, 2025 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Featuring Bree Maxwell
One Bowl, One Soul
an interactive installation
and Scott Zimmer
Paintings and Porcelains

In this vibrant exhibition, ceramic artists Bree Maxwell and Scott Zimmer exhibit personal and collaborative work.

Part of the two-person exhibition, “What Remains,” answers the question many artists have: “What if we worked together?” Maxwell, primarily a potter, and Zimmer, primarily a sculptor, answer this exact question. Their friendship spans more than two decades, but have never worked side by side until now. Through the stacking, breaking, and multi-firing of personal and academic studio discards, new visual possibilities emerged. Metaphorically, works intend to capture a moment in time revealing the essence of transformation and regeneration.

Maxwell is a ceramic artist and entrepreneur celebrated for blending ceramics with community and collaboration. Since founding Studio 467 in Vernon, Conn., in 2019, she has built a dynamic creative hub that offers classes, hosts residencies, and provides a platform for artists of diverse backgrounds to connect and thrive.

Zimmer is an American artist who holds degrees in gardening, fine art in architecture. His garden-inspired work has been shown nationally, he has attended numerous artist residencies, and taught at universities and craft centers since the early 90s.

This event is free and open to the Springfield College Community and the public.
