National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Springfield College
February 11 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Springfield College campus, 263 Alden Street, Springfield, Mass.
Check-in begins at noon in the Physical Education Complex
We are excited to host National Girls and Women in Sports Day! Girls in grades K through 6 are invited to attend clinics and meet student-athletes from our women’s varsity sports teams at Springfield College on Saturday, February 11. The clinics are free to attend. In addition, immediately following the clinics at 3 p.m., there will be a women’s basketball game that all participants are invited to attend.
This special day for girls is tied to the 50th anniversary of the landmark federal legislation, known as Title IX, which prohibits gender discrimination in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Springfield College is celebrating Title IX throughout the year. With all of our plans for National Girls and Women in Sports Day, our goal is to inspire the young girls in your life—daughters, nieces, close friends—to be proud of their participation in sports and to keep them interested in competing and staying healthy throughout their life.
