In this presentation, you will explore the impact of colonial legacies on mental health care, gaining insight into how these influences affect both clients and practitioners. Gayl Crump-Swaby will discuss the impact of colonial histories on mental health systems and introduce participants to healing practices rooted in diverse cultural traditions. As part of her presentation, you will learn how to incorporate traditional and culturally relevant approaches into their care practices, fostering a more inclusive and effective healing process. And you will also acquire the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate and effective care that honors the diverse cultural backgrounds and needs of their patients or clients.
