You have read the books, watched the documentaries, had tough conversations, and now what? Too much of the national efforts from the newly “woke” have been focused on social justice consumption rather than taking direct action. In this virtual presentation, media advocacy leader Ernest Owens will provide best practices and tips on social justice consumption and how you can be more than just a bystander, but an actual change agent.

The goal of the Courageous Conversation Series is to bring increased awareness on dismantling and interrupting bias, racism, xenophobia, and the like, as we strive to be a campus where all feel and know that they belong regardless of our differences.

Owens is the editor-at-large for Philadelphia Magazine and president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists. He also is the host of the hit podcast “Ernestly Speaking!.” As an openly gay, Black journalist, he has made headlines for speaking frankly about intersectional issues in society regarding race, LGBTQ, and pop culture. In 2018, he launched his media company that specializes in multimedia production, consulting, and communications. His work has been featured in The New York Times and The Washington Post, and on CNN, and other media outlets.
