This conference is about the global political, economic, and climate disorder in times of disruptive innovations in artificial intelligence (AI). Our rapidly devolving climate, the COVID-19 pandemic, the global reckoning with racial and class injustice, and the legacy of colonialism, imperialism, war, economic instability, the growing application of AI, political unrest, uncertainty in the future of work, and the growing human rights violations, all point to a pressing need for societal renewal. In these times, how do we access and act from our deeper sources of curiosity, compassion and courage, rather than reacting out of prejudice, anger, and fear? What kind of leadership is required to create profound innovation at the scale of a whole ecosystem of stakeholders and partners? This conference is a platform that supports the exploration of these questions through reflection, action, and engagement with other social changemakers around the world.

The keynote address, “The Challenges to Democracy, Here and Abroad, and How We Must Respond,” will be delivered by Wade Rathke, Chief Organizer, ACORN International. There will be panel discussions throughout the day as well as a roundtable discussion to close the conference.

The 25th annual AADERT conference is dedicated to scholars Gary Lacy and John Bracey Jr. who passed away.
