JFK, November 22, 1963 What Happened and Why
In this lecture, Jim Bates ’79 will cover an overview of the assassination of the 35 th President, John F. Kennedy. The lecture will begin with an overview of the site, Dealey Plaza in Dallas, TX and then move into a detailed description of what happened on that day. The presentation includes several pictures and videos which assist the listener in comprehending the events of one of the most significant days in the 20th century.

An email with Zoom link will be sent to registrants a few days prior to the program. About the Lecturer: Jim Bates is a 1979 graduate of Springfield College. During the fall of his first year,
he attended a lecture on campus where the film shot by Abraham Zapruder of the assassination was shown. It was this event that began his life long journey into studying, researching and exploring all aspects of the event that changed the second half of the 20th century. Jim is currently a Major Gifts Officer at Springfield College after spending 38 years in the sports media and cable business, where he was the 14th employee of ESPN. Jim went on to assist in developing several cable networks and regional sports networks.
