Community “Get Down” Dance Event with Ana María Álvarez of Contra-Tiempo
Please join us for *Community “Get Down”—a joyous community dance jam that is free and open to all.
Guest artist Ana María Álvarez, founding artistic director of Los Angeles-based dance company Contra-Tiempo, will lead participants in various Afro-Latin and urban forms, salsa, rumba, samba, and hip-hop grooves. Together, we embody joy as a tool to build community. All are welcome. No dance experience necessary. Move with us or participate as an observer.
This event is free and open to the Springfield College community and the public.

*This community class will also serve as the audition for anyone interested in experiencing the full weekend residency October 25-27. Throughout the three days, participants will learn an excerpt from Contra-Tiempo’s “joyUS justUS” that will be performed in the CommUnity Dance Concert from December 6-8, 2024. More details will be provided at the audition for those interested.
